DISCOVER SCOTLAND !

Through this article, I'm going to share with you the places in Scotland which are in my opinion UNAVOIDABLE! Have a good reading!
Skye Island, Scotland, Travel, Travel cheaper, hiking

1. Glasgow

Glasgow Cathedral's

For my studies, I lived 6 months in Glasgow, a very student and lively city in Scotland. I recommend you to visit places such as the Necropolis cemetery, the Kelvingrove museum or the lighthouse which are places you cannot miss in Glasgow.

Loch Lomond

But if you prefer to hike them, I recommend a very nice little site about an hour's drive from Glasgow: Loch Lomond. If you want to contemplate this loch you will have to go to Balmaha to be able to find the beginning of the hiking trail. It takes about 30-45 minutes to get to the first viewpoint and if you want to go up to the highest point, count 1 hour: it's worth it, the view is magnificent.

Glenfinnan Harry Potter

North-west of Glasgow, for Harry Potter fans I also advise you to go back to Glenfinnan. There you will be able to see the Harry Potter bridge and maybe if you plan well the schedule you will be able to see the steam train passing by. It is also possible to take the steam train but you have to be a big fan of Harry Potter because this train is very expensive!

Finally, if you like Pancakes you MUST go to Stack and Still. It's a restaurant offering salted or sweet pancakes fully customizable and they are DELICIOUS

2. The Highlands

The highlands are surely the most beautiful place in Scotland, however, to get there I recommend a car rental. First of all, you have the Cairngorms National Park, a park that I was able to cross in the middle of winter and which is really beautiful. If you want to go skiing, this park offers a great ski resort.

Urquhart Castle

North of this park you will find Inverness, a very historic little town which is a very nice stop before going to Loch Ness. In my opinion, the loch Ness is far from being the most beautiful loch in Scotland but we owe its success to its Legend. A very beautiful site to see Loch Ness is Urquhart Castle. This one is a bit excessive but it is worth it for people interested in the Loch Ness legend.

Kilt Rock Cliffs
Old man of storr

It is then absolutely necessary to go to the island of Skye. It is here that you will undoubtedly see the most beautiful landscapes! North of Portree you can visit the Old Man Of Storr site. It is the symbol and jewel of the island of Skye. You can contemplate it from the road but you also have the possibility to make a short hike that will take you about the morning. Continuing on this road you can see the famous Kilt Rock cliffs and its impressive waterfall.

Neist Point Lighthouse

Now heading west from the Isle of Skye to Neist Point Lighthouse. WARNING! The roads are very narrow and it is said that in summer it is very difficult to drive. The last place to see on the island of Skye, in my opinion, is the Fairy pools. In winter, depending on the weather, you won't be able to get there but in summer you can get there without any difficulties and even swim there!

3. Edinburgh

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland is also a city to see. It is not a big city, so the visit is largely feasible in one day. If I can give you a little advice, it is not to visit Edinburgh Castle. It is very expensive and you can get a much better view. Indeed, I advise you to go to Holyrood Park which is an ancient volcano from the top of which you can dominate Edinburgh.
Edimbourg

These are the places I advise you to visit if you go to Scotland! Don't forget that Scotland is a very touristic place in summer. I thus advise you to go there in spring or in winter.

I hope you will find these tips useful and I'll see you next week for the new article! 😉
